A new terminal in Libya, expected to open in 2027, will rely on 160 FCS-66MEN ceiling speakers from CMX Audio for its public address and background audio system.

01 The Project: 160 FCS-66MEN Units Planned for Misurata International Airport
CMX Audio has announced a project highlight: 160 FCS-66MEN ceiling speakers are planned for the new passenger terminal at Misurata International Airport in Libya. The units are intended for the terminal's public address (PA) and background audio system, covering check-in areas, corridors, departure lounges, and other public spaces.
CMX describes the FCS-66MEN as a commercial audio solution designed for public spaces and professional environments.
It is worth noting that the company's wording is 'planned for use' — not 'installed' or 'awarded.' The speakers have been specified in the project's equipment list, but delivery, installation, and commissioning timelines will depend on the airport authority and main contractor.

02 Why Ceiling Speakers Are the Backbone of Airport Audio
In a terminal building, the audio system is not about playing music — it is about ensuring every voice announcement is heard clearly.
Emergency alerts, boarding calls, flight delay notifications, paging, and background music are almost entirely delivered through flush-mount ceiling speakers. They provide even coverage, do not occupy wall or floor space, and blend into the terminal's architecture.
For a terminal designed to handle 2 million passengers per year, 160 ceiling speakers across 15,600 square meters is in the typical range for a mid-size airport PA system.

03 Misurata Airport: Rebuilding a North African Hub
Misurata is a major port and industrial city located about 200 kilometers east of Tripoli.
According to Libya Herald (May 2023), construction began on the airport's new passenger terminal, which covers 15,600 square meters and is designed for an annual capacity of 2 million passengers. The project was approved by the Transportation Projects Implementation Board under Libya's Ministry of Transport.
The existing Misurata Airport already operates scheduled flights. ICAO meeting documents from October 2024 listed around 42 weekly flights at Misurata. The new terminal is expected to give the city aviation infrastructure matching its port and industrial base.
CMX Audio states the new terminal is expected to become operational in 2027. This timeline has not yet been independently confirmed by Libya's Airports Authority or Ministry of Transport.

04 From Product Export to Project Delivery: Chinese Pro Audio Goes Abroad
On the surface, this is a single order. But it reflects two broader trends.
First, infrastructure rebuilding continues across North Africa and the Middle East. Post-conflict reconstruction and airport expansion are creating sustained project pipelines for professional audio, PA, and low-voltage system suppliers.
Second, Chinese professional audio brands are moving from product export to project delivery. Unlike discrete trade orders, airport, rail, and stadium projects demand reliability, consistency, and after-sales support at scale — raising the bar for brand-level delivery capability.
CMX Audio's positioning is 'Professional Audio Solutions for Every Project.' Whether Misurata becomes a repeatable reference case for the brand overseas will depend on how delivery and commissioning unfold over the next two years.
